The philosophy of the Programme is in line with the philosophy of the Olympic Movement in regards with the dissemination of the Olympic Ideal at international level, as well as the promotion of knowledge and research on Olympic issues.
The Programme specializes in new interdisciplinary subjects deriving mainly from the fields of Physical Education, Pedagogy and the History of the Olympic Games. Emphasis is also placed on Marketing and Management of Major Sporting Events, such as the Olympic Games and their cultural dimensions.
The curriculum is built on the three pillars of the Olympic Movement: Education, Sport and Culture. These pillars form the foundations of Olympism and Olympic Education and are characterized by three main axes: (a) the development of sport in all countries, (b) the dissemination of the Olympic Ideal, (c) the organization and management of Olympic Games. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on training students on the fundamental social issues of multiculturalism and gender equality, quality in education and development through sport. Being a pioneer programme of Olympic Education, its methods aim to nurture athletic, social, ethical skills, as well as aesthetic perception.
We envision the diffusion of the Olympic Ideal across the world, through equal educational opportunities and research that involves a blending of cultures, nations and ideas.
