Published policy for the support and development of the MSc staff
a) Strategy regarding the mobility of academic unit members – Financial support
The Department of Sports Organization and Management, to which the MSc belongs, facilitates the mobility of teaching staff, which is governed by the regulations posted on the official website of the ERASMUS program: https://erasmus.uop.gr/funding-application. The Internal Evaluation Group (OMEA) of the Department, during the drafting of the Department’s internal evaluation report, records numerical data regarding the staff that participated in mobility programs. Furthermore, it is a goal of the Department to increase the mobility of its staff. Grants for covering the expenses of mobile staff are provided on the official website of the ERASMUS program: https://erasmus.uop.gr/funding-application.
b) Establishment of teaching awards
The University of Peloponnese, through Senate decision 7/31-1-2017, established the “Teaching Excellence” program, according to which an award is granted to one regular member of the teaching staff from each Department. Each academic year, an award is given with an amount determined by a Senate decision, which can be used to cover travel expenses, participation in conferences, and the purchase of equipment.
c) Academic unit strategy for research activities in specific fields of scientific interest
A Research Planning Committee has been established within the Department, which: (a) is responsible for monitoring and encouraging the Department’s faculty members to align their research with the expectations set by the results of the internal evaluation regarding productivity, (b) is responsible for verifying that the research activity of the faculty members is relevant to their subject area and falls within the research planning of the Department, (c) is responsible for gathering and monitoring the research programs in which faculty members participate, their publications, the conferences they organize or attend, and publicity actions in general, (d) seeks funding (through NSRF or HORIZON 2020 programs or International Organizations) to enhance the Department’s research activity and the publication of research articles in international journals, (e) organizes thematic conferences for young scientists and calls for papers aimed at presenting their research and professional work, (f) monitors and provides data on the participation of undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral candidates, and postdoctoral researchers of the Department. This committee collaborates with the Department’s OMEA to provide numerical data on publications by Doctoral Candidates and Postdoctoral Researchers for the preparation of the Department’s annual internal evaluation report by submitting its annual findings.
d) Promotion of research and training by the MSc Coordinating Committee
The MSc favors the training of faculty members and encourages them to participate in educational and research processes that constitute one of the strategic goals of the program and the department, such as: participation in national and international conferences, research costs, technological research equipment, etc. The participation needs to be justified and directly or indirectly benefit the MSc and its outward orientation.
